We read in the Bible that Jehovah God will: "Swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) Like a father who removes the cause of his children’s suffering and dries their eyes, Jehovah takes great joy in bringing death to nothing! Jesus cooperates with him. We read at 1 Corinthians 15:22: “In the Christ all will be made alive."

My deepest sympathies to your family. I didn't know David, but I appreciate his desire to make our world a better place. When troublesome times such as these arise, I myself have found comfort in the Bible's hope for the future. John 5:28,29 have been particularly comforting and encouraging to my family and me. I hope you and yours are coping with your loss as best you can.

I am not acquainted with the family of David Roten Jr., but I want to express my heartfelt condolences to both family and friends of this awesome young man who gave his life to help others going through the ravages of war. As Christians, we don't know the answers to why things occur, but I truly believe in God's omnipotent presence in our lives. Thank you to the unsung heroes of this century who have kept terrorists from our own doorstep. God bless this family with peace and the knowledge of a job well-done by this wonderful son.

Dave was one of those spirits that lit up a room the second he walked into it with his genuine excitement and sharp humour. He was a founding member of Maderas Village, believing in us from the beginning and always showing so much enthusiasm and love for the people he met while here. Dave will be remembered fondly by everyone here that had the fortune to hang out with him on the beach, around the dinner table, or out in the surf. Thanks for supporting us when others were skeptical, being an inspiration to everyone that you interacted with and for showing how well gentle souls can compliment tough exteriors. You'll be missed, loved, and remembered forever brother.

To the family and friends of Dave Roten. This fine young man was simply loaned to us all. His creator wanted us to know someone who was unique and special to us all; and he was. He personally touched every one he met and if you were someone in need you were really blessed. If that wasn't enough he signed up to go to war protecting our freedoms and liberties, of which he did with bravery and commitment. To Dave's family, thank you for sharing this child, brother, uncle and friend, he left this world better than it was before he entered in and for this you have contributed to a safer world and kindness freely shared. My husband and I were fortunate enough to enjoy his company and be touched by his helping hand. I will thank Jesus for him today and speak of every good memory he left with me. God be with you all and may He give healing of the heart as time goes on. Bonnie and Paul
