Joseph Maurice Denys Francis Ouellette, resident of Brunswick and York, Maine died on September 15th, 2017 at the age of 85.

Joseph is survived by his sons; Michael, Kevin, Dan, Mark, Jeff, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives Betty (Rush) Ouellette and Violet (Small-Davis) Ouellette, his son Denys Ouellette, and daughter Betty Jo Anne Gilley.

Joseph was born on April 17, 1932 to Vital and Anna Ouellette in Edmonston, New Brunswick Canada and raised in Brunswick, Maine. After graduation from Brunswick High School, he married Betty Rush and they had 4 children. After Betty’s death in 1967, he remarried Violet (Small) Davis. Joe and Vi’s greatest accomplishment was making the Ouellette’s and Davis’s into the tight knit family it is today.

Joe retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service, having achieved the highest NCO rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He then started his civilian career at Data General where he worked as an engineer for years. When he finally retired, he played many vital roles including Family Patriarch, Mayor of Prebble Lane, Joe Fix It, Master Chef, and the Official Loon counter for Ayers Lake. Joe spent the last years of his life living with his son Mark and his family in Shaker Heights, Ohio where he continued his life of service with his therapy dog, Wiggins. Joe and Wiggins could be found every week, comforting patients at Hillcrest Hospital.

Joe was loved by many and will be missed by anyone who knew him.

Dear Anne, We read in the Bible that Jehovah God will: "Swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) Like a father who removes the cause of his children’s suffering and dries their eyes, Jehovah takes great joy in bringing death to nothing! Jesus cooperates with him. We read at 1 Corinthians 15:22: “In the Christ all will be made alive."
