I just wanted to tell a story about a special time Lynn (my Uncle) and I shared about 14 years ago. He and his two sisters (Lila and Dureta) had come to see my family in the Athens, GA area. I thinked they called it "The Griffith Sibling Tour." We were just one of their stops. It was late May of early June, so the student population of the University of Georgia was pretty low. So knowing Lynn's love for tennis, I thought I take him to see The NCAA Tennis Hall of Fame on campus. Well, when we got there, it was locked and seem to be closed. This was disappointing, so we tried to gaze though the windows. As we were straining to gaze, a big voice behind us asked if he could help us. As we turned around to see who it was, Lynn saw him and looked back at me with the biggest grin. He goes "Do you know who that is?" Which he did! I said yes in a low voice, "it's Dan Magill." For you that don't know: Dan Magill was one of the greatest collegiate tennis coaches of all-time. Lynn could not believe our luck. Long story short, Dan Magill ended up giving Lynn and I our own private tour of the Tennis Hall of Fame. He and Lynn traded many tennis stories, as we looked around. The only thing, that could have proven better for Lynn would have been a picture of the two college tennis coaches together. We did not have a camera, or so we thought. I realized after we left, that my cheap flip-phone had one. To late... I think Lynn, told me latter, that he sent Coach Magill some Lipscomb Tennis Balls (to add to the one of displays in the museum). On a side note, Coach Magill was 85 years young at the time and could still touch his toes. Lynn said to me, as he saw how flexible the coach was, "I know a lot of 30 year olds, that can't touch their toes. Luckily, I still could then at 45. ;0) Looking back, maybe it was God that made that day for Lynn happen, who knows!?! Most importantly, thanks for your dedicated service to your God and His Son. You did that by serving others. You are seeing your rewards in the heavenly places..... I'll miss our e-mails, and chats when we saw each other,(as will many others). Thanks for your example, and your encouragement to me when I was growing up.
