Meeting John Miceli: I have scores of memories. Here is a recent memory. In November of 2014 Jerry asked me to drive his Porsche from Palmdale to Orlando. When I arrived he brought me to the home of John Miceli. I had heard about John for many years. Jerry loved John and I knew that John loved Jerry. Having been one of Jerry's best friends for decades, I was actually jealous of the closeness of their relationship for a while until I met John and realized that he respected, trusted, admired and loved Jerry. John trusted Jerry with everything in his life... his house, his cars, his boat... even his children. Jerry drove John's kids to school and took care of them many times when John was out of town on business.
Knowing that I was one of Jerry's good friends, John even offered to let me use one of his favorite cars when I arrived. Later that first day, Jerry took me out on the lake in the boat and drove me around some pylons on a figure 8 course (at great speed... Jerry does everything in his life at great speed). Jerry bragged that he could get through the pylon course faster than anyone on earth... except for John's son. Jerry told me to hold on tight and I barely kept from flying out. John gave Jerry some of his best memories. From the corporate and business world, John gave Jerry the best memories of his life... the Michael Jackson project was one of the best... but it was one of many. Jerry would often phone me and tell me of a new project and how excited he was to be a part of it and then he would call to tell me how proud he was of the results.
From a corporate and business world, John was the best thing to happen to Jerry. But also, from the perspective of friendship and relationships, Jerry was fortunate to have a friend like John. Jerry was ready to follow John anywhere... into any endeavor... into any new business idea... creating things that had never been created before.
I am thankful that I had the chance to meet John and to see first-hand the strength of their friendship.
