This is another memory from Nick Ross: From: Nick Ross I'm so sorry to hear the passing of Robert. He will be truly missed. I always looked forward to Robert coming to Denver and us getting to run around Grandpas house playing together. He was not only a cousin but a friend. He's gone too early but I won't forget him. To this day I still enjoy bragging about my cousin Robert who could build Robots. Robert willl always be in our hearts and mementoes.

I'll never forget the when I went to college and Robert found out I didn't have a computer. He salvaged one from his school. Rebuilt it and sent it to me. I was truly blessed to have such a kind and generous cousin.

I worked with Robert at The LEGO Store in Tysons Corner, VA in the late 2000s. We [the staff] were a rambunctious crew at that store and Robert was a bit shy, but what really made Robert come out of his shell with us was his passion for LEGO and his electronics know how. He won all of us over at the store with his brilliance. My favorite memory of Robert was late one night after getting off of work, Robert and I were walking to the parking lot together and talking about cars. He had a Honda Element at the time and I loved that car. He asked me if I wanted to see it as he was working on the electronics on the inside. Little did I know that he had ripped apart almost all of the center console and dashboard having rigged up an incredible stereo system and real time diagnostics equipment far surpassing what comes on many expensive custom cars. His work was a bit "untidy", but that didn't matter, it was absolutely incredible and the fact that he had done it all himself was even more impressive. We must have hung out in his Honda Element for at least 2 hours as he showed me everything he had done and everything the car could do. There were some other co-workers there with us who were also equally impressed. Brilliant, hard working, but most of all, a kind and gentle man. From me and the LEGO crew, peace & love and our condolences.

I met Robert all the way back in high school. Because I was a year younger than he, we were never in the same class; however, we ate lunch together every fourth day. Robert was incredibly intelligent, kind, occasionally mischievous, and creative. One of my favorite memories of Robert was when he and another friend, Jimmy, engaged in a lively debate during lunch over whether robots could take over the world. Robert, naturally, argued the affirmative. I had fun egging each of them on in turn to see who could come up with the most outrageous—yet still logical—claim. I don’t remember who won the argument, but it certainly made us all think! Once when Robert was living in Colorado, Jenn and I met up with him there. Robert and I were both so excited to see each other. All we did was go out to eat, but it was truly good, uplifting, to see him and hear how he was doing. He really was a sweet, kind young man with a quirky sense of humor. A final memory comes from when Robert was still living with his parents in Virginia. I visited and was fascinated by his elaborate Lego displays he showed me. They were so cool, and they demonstrated his patience, spatial intelligence, creativity, and talent. He turned Legos into an art form. There is a Lego store at the mall where I shop in Indianapolis, and I have thought of Robert every time I walk past it. It will now become a sort of regular memorial for me and a reminder to say a prayer for him. Robert faced many challenges in his life, but I know that he did so with the absolute certainty that he was loved by his parents, sister, other family members, and friends. I will miss him, and I send my deepest condolences to his family. In the midst of this pain, we rest assured that we have a loving God who is now holding Robert close in a place of peace, love, and joy. Peace in Christ, Kathryn Wetzel
