My husband, Roy Bate Jr. and I want to wish dad. Roy Bate Sr. a very Happy Birthday. You are greatly missed every day. When God took you home he took one of his angels home. Laying hear before I go to sleep realizing 2 years ago today I lost someone very close to me god do I remember it like yesterday things just happen so fast I wish he was here to see this see me for the man I've become and I wish I could tell him papy Roy I made it I'm in the navy and I wish I could talk to him man he would be so proud it doesn't get any easier when you lose someone but it's times like this it ting here thinking that I'm glad for the choices I've made and I know he would be proud. I miss you and I know everyone else does too I know it's been hard on the people you loved but we're still hanging on lol. I know that if I could talk to you right now it would be like you never left I miss you papy Roy RIP I love you

I've worked at the Daily Athenaeum for the past 2 years as a student and got to know Roy during that time. Always had an upbeat attitude and always put a smile on everyone's face. I worked for Roy at the Daily Anthenaeum, great boss and even better person.I was so sad to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to Roy's family. Roy always greeted me with a smile even on the cold snowy mornings no one wanted to be there. Rest in Peace.

I just wanna say that this man is so very special to me just becuz he wasn't my blood doesn't mean he wasn't my grandfather he didn't have to do anything for me my brothers sisters and cousins but he chose to he treated my grandmother perfectly and was there for her through everything she has had to go through and was a perfect grandfather more of a grandfather to me then my blood even tho I called him Roy and not grandad he was my friend and my Pappy Roy and I love him and will miss him every day
