Dr. Talbert Lawrence Grooms, Sr. “Distinguished himself by exemplary service and commitment to the Dayton community” He was born on October 21, 1956 to the late Mrs. Lucy M. Glass-Grooms and James (Jimmy) Curington. Preceded in death by both his parents and sisters; Charlotte Radford and Trilla Grooms.
Talbert graduated from Kiser High School and received his Associate Degree from Sinclair Community College, Bachelor Degree in Management from Wilberforce University “Cum Laude” (The Nation’s oldest private HBCU), Master Degree in Education from The University of Dayton “Summa Cum Laude” and Doctorate on Higher Education Administration from Walden University.
Talbert is survived by his son Talbert Jr., grandson, Talbert III, adopted sons, Marcus Grooms and Kelvin Julious; brothers; Dwight Grooms of Atlanta, GA, Eric Grooms of Washington DC., Craig (Sharon) Grooms of Atlanta, GA; Sisters,
Sabrina (Vernon) Oglesby of Atlanta, GA, Patricia Arnold of McMinnville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, extended family and associates.
Service of memory Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Phillips Temple AME Church 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd Trotwood. Public viewing 10 a.m. until time of cemetery.
