Thomas P. Potere, age 52, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. He will always be remembered as a loving man, brother, uncle and friend. Tom loved the outdoors and treasured the times he spent hunting and fishing. He was a journeyman plumber and a proud member of the Local 98 Detroit Plumbers Union. Tom served his country in the Navy from 1982-1986, and was stationed aboard the USS Dwight D Eisenhower during the Iran-Iraq War.
Tom leaves behind the love of his life Karen Ormsby, his sister Anne (Lou) Schimelpfenig, his brother Steven (Beth) Potere, his brother-in-law Ken Bennett; his nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved, his hunting buddies, his union brothers, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Joan C. Potere, his father Thomas E. Potere, his sister Janet M. Bennett, his sister Barbara A. Potere, his sister Catherine A. Potere, his grandmother Lucille K. McGinley, and his labs Scully and Red. May they all rest together in eternal peace.
A celebration of his life has been scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 1-3:30 p.m., at the Howell Nature Center’s Knoll Lodge, 1005 Triangle Lake Rd., Howell, MI 48843. Dear Potere family, Just heard about Tom's passing. May God grant a peace that passes all understanding. My heart aches not knowing all that he had gone through until recently. Much love to all he loved.
