Current Memories

From: Steve Berecek Monday, May 11, 2015
Mike and I first met in grade school and became friends for life. I have many, many fond memories of Mike. I remember visiting the "Lazy K" ranch during the early years of our friendship. It seems that there was always something interesting going on there. I remember Carl buried a milk can in the ground and he would blow the lid off clear up out of sight. I remember the hill back in the woods where Mike's dad and his friends would meet on weekends and "hill climb" with their motor cycles. I remember when Mary Ellen came home to visit from California and I thought she was the most beautiful lady I had ever seen. I remember when little "Petey "injured his finger on the pump in the back yard. As time went on, we graduated from high school and went our separate ways. Forty years later, Mike contacted me and told me where he was living in AZ. He wanted us to come out and visit him, so we did, twice. Though it had been forty years, when we got together, it seemed as if no time had passed at all. Mike and his wonderful wife, Sharon, made us feel like family and we felt right at home. I will always have very fond memories of my friend, Mike. He was a very special person, and now, God has a very special Angel. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of Mikes family and especially Sharon. May God bless you all and give you comfort at this time. Steve Berecek

What can I say about my big brother Mike?! Ever since I was a kid I knew he cared for me, his kid brother. It was mutual! He had the sweetest smile and was good to his mom and dad--loved ALL his brothers and sisters. He was so happy the day he introduced me and Bernadette to his family back in 1976-thereabouts. Proud of his children and loved that dear Sharon, who has lovingly stuck by his side through all these years. Brother Dave taught me guitar, but no doubt, Mikeee taught me to enjoy singing. We used to raise our voices and sing many a tune. The song "Never Ending Love For You" was one of our favorites and just before Mike went Home, I sang this song dedicated to him in concert. We also used to sing What A Day together with gusto. Those words to that tune are becoming a precious reality. I am proud as can be of Michael Keaggy. He loved people well, served them, prayed for them when they were in need. His voice is still alive in my memory and even as I write this, I hear him singing. I love you Mike, I love you Sharon and all the kids that you loved and raised together. Kiss our dear Mom, Dad and family in that Paradise, for me. Bernadette, Alicia, Olivia and Ian, with me send our love to you, brother~uncle and to dear Sharon and children. God bless us all~~ phil keaggy

My sweet brother Mike....oh my, the wonderful memories I have. I am the 10th of ten children, and my brother Mike was always looking out for me. From when I was a little girl till now....cause I know he is STILL looking out for me. Only now, he has a much better view! I could write a book of all the great times we have had. First, I am so thankful I was able to see Mike a couple weeks before he passed. My son Tim bought my husband Greg and I tickets to AZ for our birthdays. What perfect timing that was. I was able to sit with him, talk with him, made him some scrambled eggs, which when I was feeding to him, I was giving him small bites,,,and Mike looked at me and said" Ger! give me a REAL bit, will ya?" I laughed and he smiled.....and he did smile while I was with him. I knew those smiles were just for me. Such a precious time. I so love my sister Sharon. I am honored to be her sister. I have lots and lots of precious memories of times my sister Kathy and I would go to Bull Head and visit for several days. We would always have fun, laugh, drink wine, and just enjoy each others company, But there is one memory that lives in my heart that was an incredibly special and amazing time. I was 18 years old and had just graduated High School in Arizona. I had driven out to Ohio but after a couple months, wanted to go back to AZ. Pretty broke I was but I had a car. So I sold my 1965 Thunderbird for $500.00 and Mike said..." Ger, you want to ride on my motorcycle with me back to Arizona?" I said, YES! SO, we took the trip of my life, from Ohio to Arizona in three days on the back of Mikey's motorcycle. I remember Mike just being so concerned that I was comfortable and getting enough rest. We made it safe and I will never forget that special time we had. I am incredibly blessed with amazing and loving brothers and sisters....and I love every one of them with all my heart. Mike always called me through the years, always making sure I was OK. He had a heart of gold......he is forever and always in my heart.
