Before Daniel was born I read that newborns are very aware and that if you stick out your tongue at baby they will stick there tongue out back. So when I first saw him at only 2 hours old I tried this and sure enough his little tongue came out. I told him about this and sticking our tongues out at each other became a private signal between us. We even were talking about this the last time we were together.
I spent the whole day with him at his apartment. We walked and told each other stories and secrets all day. How many 19 year old boys would enjoy spending a lovely Saturday with their old Grandma? I was so proud of him and I LOVED HIM SO MUCH

The first time I met Daniel was in 2015, just before his 15th birthday. He couldn’t wait to show us a drone he had just finished building and let us have a go flying it round the house. I remember being in awe at his intelligence and couldn’t believe a kid so young could have built something so cool! One night we went with him to see a neighbours elderly dog he looked after. He was a real sweetheart and I wish I could have spent more time with him.

The first time I met Daniel I felt so guilty. I'd just stepped off the plane from London and was full of a heavy illness, coughing and spluttering! I was 20 and he was 10, and I was to be sleeping on his bottom bunk! This strange new English cousin, who he'd only known for a few minutes, probably keeping him awake with my sniffles and coughs! But even at 10 years old, Daniel being Daniel, he could not have been more accommodating. It didn't take long before we were best buds, having many a laughs with Mad Libs and Regular Show, in between me refereeing sword-fights between him and Lucas. Special memories I'll always have.
