Jerome,

Yvette and I were partner teachers, both seventh grade homeroom teachers, when you and Yvette married. I remember the joy that radiated from Yvette when she told me you had married. The steadfastness and depth of the love you two shared was obvious to me.

Much love and peace to you.

The rays of light filtered through the sentinels of trees this morning. I sat in the garden and contemplated. The serenity and beauty of my feelings and surroundings completely captivated me.

I thought of you.

I discovered you tucked away in the shadows of the trees. Then, rediscovered you in the smiles of the flowers.
As the sun penetrated their petals in the rhythm of the leaves falling in the garden, in the freedom of the birds as they fly searching as you do.

I'm very happy to have found you. Now you will never leave me, for I will always find you in the beauty of life.

I first met Jerome and Ivette when they moved next door ten years ago on Timberline Drive in Eugene, Oregon. At that time I had been widowed about two years so spent a lot of time working in the yard. I always looked forward to seeing Jerome outside. He was so very kind--always offering to help out and often doing so. If I did not get my trash containers out for pick-up early enough, there they would be on the curb placed by Jerome! I could not have asked for better neighbors, and enjoyed especially being included in their family gatherings. Jerome and I shared another thing in common as I, too, had lived in Evanston, Illinois, many years ago.

I was saddened to hear of Jerome's passing but know a good and gentle man like Jerome must be in the arms of God. Although I have moved out of the neighborhood, I am only a mile and a half away so treasure keeping in touch with Ivette.

I have known Yvette for a lifetime, and love her as family. Through these past few days, that my daughters and I have spent with Yvette, I have gotten to know you as well... know of your history and sense of humor...but mostly, I've gotten to know of how you were not only a husband to Yvette, but a true partner. How you shared with her, strength and adventure, laughter and love.
The gift of 'Being', in life...in memory and in the Life that follows, is a gift of light. Thank you for being that gift to Yvette. I am grateful to get to know you through Yvette's words, and in the gentleness and grace that fills this home.
May you be at peace, Jerome. It has been lovely to meet you.

Jerome you loved my sister and Yvette means the world to me. I am forever grateful for the love and happiness you brought to Yvette. You are with G-d now, at peace. As we say in Judaism, we will all be reunited again in
Olam HaBa (The World to Come) - Heaven. Yvette, Yvonne, Linda, Pamela and I
along with the rest of our family will be with you forever with G-d. Until then, Rest, my friend. Love, your brother and sister in law,

I will always love you Romey. I want to thank you for being a loving husband, for making me laugh and for always making me feel safe. We were so fortunate to have found each other. I am so grateful for the time we had together. It's so hard to imagine my life without you. My heart aches and sometimes the tears seem like they will not stop. I am comforted in knowing that you will be with me always and I continue to feel your love. Rest peacefully my love. We will be together again. It's not goodbye, it's love always.
