Looking through pictures I was reminded of how Vernon came by his nickname…. not Deet… that’s a story for the older siblings to tell…He was in Army same time as Gomer Pyle, USMC was popular! He became our Gomer! I remember so many funny postcards from him… nine year old me so looked forward to my mail from my big brother. I remember being the first kid in the neighborhood having a Beatle’s record… he brought it home for me from Fort Dix…
