Melvin L. Stephenson, 90, of Edmonds, WA., passed peacefully on July 4, 2015. He was born in Newberry, Michigan on June 25, 1925, the fourth of seven children born to William A. Stephenson and Mabel E. Stephenson, née Collins. He was a WWII veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Gregory.
In 1953 while working for the Great Northern Railroad, met and married his wife Louise.
He is survived by daughters, Susan Frohning (Gary); RuthAnne Krusell (Michael); sons, John V. Williams (Sherrie); Stuart Williams (Patricia); Neal Stephenson and Shaun Stephenson, brothers, Kenneth F. Stephenson (Donna) and Francis C. (Punk) Stephenson (Sharon). He was loving known as "Poppy" to his 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his wife Louise, son, Keith R. Williams, sister, Thelma M. Deloria, brothers, William G. Stephenson; Edward H. Stephenson and Albert O. (Buck) Stephenson.
He will be desperately missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. David E. Taibleson & staff at Edmonds Family Medicine for their outstanding care.
